Waterproofing Agent Application:Artificial Board

A      Brief Introduction

The main water-proof method in producing MDF&HDF in China is adding melted paraffin, at the same time the particle board still apply paraffin latex as the Water-proofing Agent. Paraffin belongs to high carbon mineral grease. It has very strong inertia, thus it would be very difficult to add other substances when use paraffin. The Water-proof principle of Paraffin is to utilize its Water-proofing character. Cover it on fiber or particle surface evenly after being melted or emulsified. After this procedure, we can make the activity hydrophilic gene of the particle board isolated with the water and accomplish the purpose of waterproof. But it remains several problems as below:

1.     Use melted paraffin or paraffin latex is just a kind of temporary water-proof measurement, which effect is fragile. The paraffin layer on fiber or particle surface would pull off as time goes on, then the water-proof ability would be weakened simultaneously.

2.     Inconvenient for use and difficult to evenly covered on the board surface. The function is limited and efficiency is low which increased production cost.

3.     Paraffin price remains high perennially due to intentional unstable price of oil.

D     Usage Method

  

1)      MDF & HDF: Spray Water-proffing Agent into fiber spray tube, or dilute it by 1~1.5 times of water (to control apply scale and increase dispersibility and improve evenness degree), then spray it into fiber spray tube.

2)      Particle Board: the best method is spraying the Water-proofing Agent into glue mixer individually, or you can mix it into the glue solution and well stirred in the process of glue mixing.

  

E      Apply Quantity

  

The apply quantity depend on processing objects thickness, density, spraying evenness and remained goods volume after sanding. The apply quantity is for reference as below:

1)      MDF: 4~6kg/m3

2)      HDF(special board):8~11kg/m3
